Today I would like to encourage anyone who wishes to write a poem.
The prompt for the poem is a “page”
What holds you deeply in a page? Is it the author? Curiosity? Or perhaps a feeling of understanding? Do you feel connected to the words? Do they give you insight? Imagery?
A starting stanza could be “I lost myself completely in the words…”
I can’t wait to see what everyone who feels the call of inspiration comes up with. Take your time with it. Doesn’t matter what style you write or how long or short. What reverence do you have for a specific page in a book, your life, your environment …
Many Blessings!

Don’t Turn the Page
I lost myself completely in the words,
I found this welcoming, beckoning world.
Each pathway curved, a promise yet unheard,
Lead me, wondering, ever forward.
The words flowed through my mind
like silent clouds, quiet rivers
weaving through the echoes of night.
I closed my eyes to see
the waiting crowns.
A painted plethora, vivid, untold.
I read again each single, sacred line,
To find a home different from mine.
I do not ask for more than the page can give
This crafted world held in my mind, ever clearer.
I reread its secrets, patient, soft and deep,
Within its quiet echoes, find the missing piece.
Make my own imperfect fragment fit
A borrowed peace that makes
All my longing cease.
Please post a link to your poem here on this post in the comments
Thank you for reading, I appreciate your time. Many Blessings!

I like to know how people feel when they write. What emotion sparked this output.
Another great poem (yes I’m binging your writing right now)
I love this idea how language and art can also be a home. Especially when our own world isn’t what we thought it could be.
“I closed my eyes to see” I love that metaphor. I do this as well. It’s like a stand in for letting the inside guide the outside. Intuition? I’m not sure what it’s called. closing the eyes to see is better.
This is a really strong and dense poem Dorie. I admit I had to read it many times to understand what you are saying with such beautiful language. And still I feel I haven’t grasped it in its entirety. You write so damn well.
