Too many halves. You learn best from making mistakes. Each mistake is a lesson. I like the alchemist line that talks about beginners luck as the universe giving you luck in a new task to inspire you to keep trying.
You PAINT too?? Honestly, where does the talent end? This is your first painting, and it’s beautiful! Meanwhile, the most painting I’ve done is paint-by-numbers (the advanced kind, so I’m claiming that counts!).😂
I love what you said about the fine line between bravery and stupidity and choosing bravery anyway. That’s exactly what this painting feels like: proof that trying, even imperfectly, can open doors we didn’t know were there.
Someone recently asked me what can I not do? I thought about saying something rude like “find a nice man.” but instead I took a breath and said there are so many things I can’t do. I can’t draw or know east from west, I mix up letters when I memorize words. I just do the best I can at everything I try.
Something else we have in common. I cannot draw. And east from west? Nope. 😅 But honestly, the way you keep trying at everything? That’s what makes your creativity shine. And as for the ‘find a nice man’ comment… don’t close that door. Never say never. You shine in such a genuine way that a good man would be incredibly lucky to find you.
You know, as a child psychologist student, just the act of letting your fingers print something into the material world activates the brain in so many different ways. the fact that as an adult you chose to paint (almost all adults that don't paint never even try it) and leave that mark. Bravery at its finest. I see it. Sometimes putting your mark is harder than saying words.
Dorie… for a “wrong paper, wrong brush, wrong ink” first attempt, this actually has so much heart in it. Honestly, half of bravery is just going, “eh, let’s try it anyway” and hoping the universe doesn’t giggle too loudly.
I love the spirit behind this — the mess, the courage, the trying again even when it feels a bit ridiculous. Feels like the kind of first step that deserves its own little celebration.
Keep going!

Yes I do too! Love that book!
I'm only an ignorant Westerner ~ but that first painting holds genius, to me. 👌✨
You are so kind. You are also not ignorant by any means.

Seriously, I love this painting!

加油 indeed~
Than you Asuka. I often wonder if the universe is giggling. I just can’t help myself though, I have to try. 🩷
Write, paint, sculpt. You are very talented.
