Into the Abyss

It’s funny how life gives you these sharp turns

you’re constantly on the precipice,

wondering which direction should I call mine?

Consequences aren’t set in motion

until the action is complete.

I may think, I have awareness,

a certain ability to predict the future,

but I truly don’t.

Time moves outside my control,

and so do the feelings and actions of others.

The only thing I can really predict

is what I will do

and hope it doesn’t lead me

further into the abyss.
