I am so glad that I waited till the quiet part of the day to read this. If anyone can read this and not be deeply moved in so many ways, then I suspect they may not even be human. Dorie, you are an amazing woman, a wonderful mother, a fascinating human being, and quite possibly an angel yourself. In fact, I know that you are. I like to think of myself as being pretty tough, but this really exposed the fact that I'm not so tough after all. You however are tough. And yet so delicate. And your children, they are who they are because of the mother that they have. They have won the lottery of life. I am certain that they know this to be true.

I knew what you meant 🩷 my Mother’s Days are very calm because we have an agreement. I get to rest on Mother’s Day. No x-sports, no races, no karate tournaments, no fencing matches, no rocket building, no climbing mountains looking for art inspiration. Everyone just sits down and lets Mom’s heart have a little moment of rest! lol!

I’m over here smiling like an idiot and blinking too much. The way you see them. The way every poem feels like “I was here, I noticed, I stayed.” That’s the good stuff. That’s the kind that sticks to the ribs.

This didn’t feel like “mom geez” at all. It felt like being let into a house where the lights are always on and someone remembers how you take your tea. Pure heart. Pure warmth. Pure angels.
Thank you Asuka, Adia likes two teaspoons of honey, steeped dark—more creamer than coffee, Alex hates tea— he’s two creams two sugars every morning only two cups, Aidan likes one sugar steeped light, Chinese black tea though he’ll drink without sugar—cafe latte, he hasn’t developed his taste for coffee yet, lol
