Chapter 12
Director Mu led Mary to her office. She sifted through a mound on her desk and produced a single printed list.
“Here, I believe you will find someone reliable. I specifically requested a bilingual candidate from the service, but I’m afraid they don’t have anyone available at the moment.”
“Thank you, I appreciate this more than you know. It will let me breathe easier, knowing the boys have someone at home when they get out of school.” Mary took the offered list, her eyes scanning the names.
“How are you all settling in?” Director Mu’s voice softened. “The boys… they like their new school?”
“We’re managing. I think they like it well enough so far. No emergency calls from the administration, which I take as a big victory.” Mary offered a small, tired smile. “They haven’t made close friends yet, but it’s only been a couple of weeks. I’m sure…
