Chapter 16
The morning flew by; Mary’s morning class was full of animated students. Her Tuesday lecture class just as animated as her Monday sessions. Questions ricocheted around the classroom. She was excited with the engagement, loved every minute of it. Before she realized it, the bell was ringing. She would stay for a short classroom after hour, this class only met once a week for two and a half hours. Then it was time to meet Sam.
Over a hurried lunch in the busy canteen, their conversation was its familiar, comforting banter. Sam, with a mischievous glint, resumed her gentle teasing about Mary’s “secret admirer,” sending her into such a fit of laughter that her cheeks ached. Still flushed and smiling, they walked arm-in-arm up the employee stairs. They headed immediately for the afternoon’s all-staff meeting in the conference room.
