Infidelity is one of the most devastating things that can happen in a relationship.
Smoke and Mirrors
It’s all smoke and mirrors.
No one is true.
The words just flatter,
while actions, so few,
are all that matter.
You pay in lip service
to those who stay.
glaringly obvious now
your tiny, steadfast light
was thrown away.
Will it ever end
if you finally say,
“No more”?

Dorie, your poem exposes betrayal with stark honesty...words deceive, actions reveal. The discarded light symbolizes what was truly valuable, and the ending asks a simple, powerful question... “No more?”... marking the boundary between endurance and self-respect. I truly love this question.
This one... hit deep.
